Today I have been married to Greg for five years, which is amazing because it seems like just yesterday we were driving my parents 1982 Pontiac Bonneville out of Des Moines because Greg’s Jeep Cherokee was in the shop with faulty breaks and a rock through the windshield from the night before the wedding! I really can’t make sense of how long 5 years is because I am more in love with Greg now then I was then and that seems to make life fly by insanely fast. In the first year I learned that Greg is more kind and empathetic than I could ever be, in the second year I learned that he would work harder than anyone for something he was passionate about, in the third year I learned that he has incredible loyalty and that he was so very excited about becoming a dad and waited patiently while I learned to be excited and not just terrified! In the fourth year I watched him fall in love with his beautiful daughter and fall in love with being a father, and I learned that we weren’t only joined by our love and our best-friendship, but now we were a team together in this thing called parenting and that he made that a lot of fun too, and in this last year I have watched him grow in his music, grow his business, and still making sure his family is taken care of financially and emotionally, and that still, after 5 years, he’s the person I want to hang out with the most, miss when he’s not around to share the joke and that he understands me the best of anyone.
Greg, I love and respect you more than anyone and I can’t imagine a life better than the one we’re in right now, together. You’re my favorite.
Your lucky wife,
Sam
