This is a fun little list of what Blinn’s doing/saying these last few months. I had originally posted it on my myspace, but thought I would post it here too!
- Blinn loves to smell candles and flowers. Whenever she sees a candle, she has to pick it up and bury her nose in it and go “mmmm.. nummy…” Currently, she loves to climb up on top of the toilet and reach the candle that’s by the sink. It’s her favorite smelly candle. She also loves to smell at the candles in Viviana’s flower shop.
- Blinn is getting really good at talking on the phone. She’ll actually talk and interact with whoever is on the other end for a good 3-4 minutes. And when she’s talking I can tell she’s really listening to what they’re saying and then she’ll tell them what we’ve been doing “Park” “Car” “Daddy” “Walk”. Maybe when she starts talking in full sentences, I’ll make answering the phone one of her chores and then I’ll never have to answer the phone again!! :) jk.
- Right now, Blinn has to have two “biblees” (blankets) with her to go “na-night” and her “lala” (gloworm doll) and her “bear” (teddy bear) and her “pafu” (pacifier). If one of these is missing, she will let you know. ***update**** She now also has two babies and a Fraggle Rock that also have to be included. It’s getting crowded in there. Also her pottery barn blanket is specifically the one that she has to have now. I’m going to have to order another one for backup I think.
- It takes Blinn a while to wake up in the morning and it’s best to just leave her alone until she lets you know that she’s ready to get up by yelling something. (this is about 20-30 after you first hear her waking up). If you get her out of her crib or interact with her while she’s still in the process of waking up, she could very possibly be cranky for quite a while. I have a sneaky suspicion that this behavior could last a very very long time. ;)
- Some of Blinn’s nicknames include: Blinn, Abilene, Boo, Boo-Bear, Boo-Boo, Abo, Busy Bee, Blinndalyn, Blinn-Blinn, and Abilene Olive when we’re really serious.
- Right now Blinn has taken to saying “Mama!” and “Daddy!” in a very loud, commanding tone for fun
- As soon as we get up in the morning Blinn is asking, “coat? bubye? car? walk??” She is VERY social and loves to be around lots of people. (We’re not sure exactly where she got that from. :) )
- She talks a ton. Her doctor couldn’t believe how much she was saying at her checkup a few weeks ago. She knows most any animal you show her (and the corresponding noise it makes), she sings “The Rainbow Song” which goes “red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, rainbow colors!” and the chorus of Jesus Love Me. And tonight when we were at the ice cream shop with Jenni, Jenni asked her if she liked her raspberry sorbet and Blinn replied “I like it” which I think qualifies as her first sentence! (She’ll also say “I see you”, but I think she’s learned that from us)
- She loves her Jesus books (little kid Bibles) that we read before bedtime. She calls him “Jejush” and also calls anyone robed “Jejush”. This includes saint statues in the yards around Lemont, star wars figurines and the Statue of Liberty.
- Whatever you say to her or ask her, she’ll repeat back the last word you said as a question. IE: Did you have fun? “Fun?” Do you want to go for a walk? “walk?” Do you want to eat? “Eat” Did you see the fish? “Fish?”
- She loves to get onto the stage at church and sing in the microphone.
- She loves the Hillsong kids “Superstrong God” DVD. “Rainbow” is her favorite and she has almost all of the motions down.
- When we read a book and we’re done with it (or she decides that she’s done with it) she says “Amen” because she has Amen and The End confused. :)
- She is terrified of people in Shrek costumes. (but who isn’t??)

- When Blinn wakes up in the morning or after her nap, she has to gather as many or all of her blankies and stuffed animals/babies and take them with her. (This can be up to 7 different items that she’s trying to pick up at once.)
- She tries to sneak her pacifier when we’re not looking. (see post from last week)
- She hates sirens.
- She loves the train and if she hears it coming she’s going “See? See? See?” to make sure that you’re going to drop whatever you’re doing to pick her up to look out the window before the train is gone. (We live 100ft from the train track- so this happens about every 15 minutes). I have to confess that there have been a few times that I’ve attempted to talk over or distract her from the train if I can tell that it’s coming!!
Well, that’s all for now. I’ll post more as I think of them. This is mainly just a record for us, but we hope that you enjoy them too!

We live right across the street from the train tracks and Noah & Seth both go running when they hear a train coming. I keep thinking they’ll outgrow it, but even the older kids will run to look at it from time to time.
I should send you a picture of the blanket that Seth carries around. With all your garage sale/thrift shopping, maybe you can find a backup for us? Because it’s a 6 year old Gymboree (or maybe it’s TCP) blanket we got for Noah and you just can’t find them ANYWHERE anymore. We’ve lost it a couple times and you’d think the world was going to end.
